Restaurants
Except for the restaurants in the resorts
(Hilton, Mirror Lake Inn, et.al.), all the restaurants in the Adirondack Park
area are informal, even if serving upscale food.
The Hungry Trout – near Wilmington; (518) 946-2217 - up-scale, I’ve enjoyed the
trout (of course) don’t forget to try the McDougall’s Irish Pub downstairs for
lighter fare (restaurant
menu also available), sometimes they have live music.
Milano North – in Lake Placid; (518) 523-3003 – up-scale informal Italian
food. Denise and I had a simply
wonderful time here
Tip-a-Canoe – Keene; (518) 576-9092 - Great lunches and an
interesting dinner menu as well. You
can get a gourmet meal or a burger at dinner time.
Cedar
Run Bakery – Keene;
(518) 576-9929 - they have frozen foods
ready for the oven or microwave; GREAT breakfasts and some very interesting
food/groceries to take away, e.g. salt from the Camargue
Country Bear Resaurant/Bakery – On 86 toward Wilmington;
We’ve had nice breaksfasts and pastries.
The
Brown Dog Cafe – Lake Placid; (518) 523-3036 - GREAT food and wine – a bit expensive; you need a reservation for
Friday and Saturday nights
The
Great Range – Keene
Valley; (518) 576-6096- spotty hours call ahead; gourmet at reasonable prices

Devlin’s Deli
– just up the
road in Jay, a good place for take-out sandwiches; also milk, bread, …
Noon-Mark Dinner in Keene Valley – a place
to avoid unless EVERYTHING else is closed and you’re starving.
Turtle Island Cafe: In Willsboro near Denise’s
house: Great funky menu; We’ve had GREAT meals
here. Definitely the place to eat in
the Willsboro/Essex area
