Restaurants

Except for the restaurants in the resorts (Hilton, Mirror Lake Inn, et.al.), all the restaurants in the Adirondack Park area are informal, even if serving upscale food.

 

The Hungry Troutnear Wilmington; (518) 946-2217 - up-scale, I’ve enjoyed the trout (of course) don’t forget to try the McDougall’s Irish Pub downstairs for lighter fare (restaurant menu also available), sometimes they have live music.

Milano Northin Lake Placid; (518) 523-3003 – up-scale informal Italian food.  Denise and I had a simply wonderful time here

       Tip-a-CanoeKeene; (518) 576-9092 - Great lunches and an interesting dinner menu as well.  You can get a gourmet meal or a burger at dinner time.

Cedar Run BakeryKeene; (518) 576-9929 - they have frozen foods ready for the oven or microwave; GREAT breakfasts and some very interesting food/groceries to take away, e.g. salt from the Camargue

Country Bear Resaurant/Bakery – On 86 toward Wilmington; We’ve had nice breaksfasts and pastries.

The Brown Dog CafeLake Placid; (518) 523-3036 - GREAT food and wine – a bit expensive; you need a reservation for Friday and Saturday nights

       The Great RangeKeene Valley; (518) 576-6096- spotty hours call ahead; gourmet at reasonable prices

       Lisa G’sLake Placid (also); (518) 523-2093 – Very Informal atmosphere with Good burgers; nice bar; local hangout

       Devlin’s Delijust up the road in Jay, a good place for take-out sandwiches; also milk, bread, …

        Noon-Mark Dinner in Keene Valley – a place to avoid unless EVERYTHING else is closed and you’re starving.

Turtle Island Cafe:  In Willsboro near Denise’s house: Great funky menu; We’ve had GREAT meals here.  Definitely the place to eat in the Willsboro/Essex area
